Our team at ITC Hospitality Group, had the great pleasure of volunteering with local NPO, Ladles of Love.
This year the organization went big for Mandela Day, by aiming to break the world record for for 6 700 volunteers each doing 67 minute of voluntary service throughout the day. This was followed by their Love Fest concert that was jam-packed with energy, dancing and music at the end of the volunteering programme.
There were various activities that members of the community could participate in, with all activities stationed at the V&A Waterfront's Oranjezicht Farmers' Market and Lookout venues.
Volunteers could choose to:
MAKE sandwiches for those less fortunate.
CRAFT toys and instruments for children in need.
FILL jars of hope with dry foods.
CREATE care hampers for Carers (volunteers distributing goods).
PLANT edible seeds to feed.
PACK stationery essential kits for school children.
COLLATE educational colouring books for young kids.
DISPATCH and pack prepared items for ECD (Early Childhood Development) centres.
Our team participated in making sandwiches and collating colouring books for school children. A great deal of fun was had by the staff, who appreciated their time spent out of the office doing good and lending a helping hand in giving back to the Cape Town community.
A big thank you to Ladles of Love for organizing such a wonderful event in the spirit of creating impact, and giving back to our communities. An even bigger congratulations for breaking the UBUNTU record of 6 700 volunteers doing 67 minutes of community engagement!
What a great feat for Cape Town and for all South Africans working together, nationwide! We are thankful to have been a part of such history.
