Cape Town - Design Capital 2014
Cape Town has won the right to host the World Design Capital in 2014. The announcement was made recently at the International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress in Taipei.
The Mother City's bid outlined a vision to create an inclusive city by embedding design ideas in its urban development plans. The status is awarded biennially to cities dedicated to using design for social, cultural and economic development. Cape Town will now have a chance to showcase its achievements through a year-long programme of design events and activities.
